Police arrested a Morgan Hill man who was in possession of a cache of illegal weapons and narcotics, according to authorities.

On Feb. 3, officers from the Santa Clara County Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant at the home of Siawash Ghasseminezhad, 34, on Hillwood Lane in northwest Morgan Hill, reads a press release from Morgan Hill police.

During the search, officers found 11 firearms, including three “AK-47 type” assault rifles, an SKS rifle, a loaded handgun, a semi-automatic shotgun, ammunition and numerous illegal high-capacity magazines, according to police. The search also yielded a variety of drugs, including methamphetamine, heroin, Xanax, Oxycontin, marijuana, steroids and items related to narcotics sales and packaging.

Ghasseminezhad was later arrested in his vehicle, where police also found a loaded handgun concealed inside the center console, police said.

Ghasseminezhad was booked at Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of 16 felonies, including possession of unauthorized assault weapons and possession of narcotics for sale, according to police.
