Live Oak lost 6-0 to Bellarmine on March 1 to fall to 1-4 heading into play on Wednesday at Prospect.
Two games over the weekend at San Lorenzo Valley and at Capuchino were rained out.
Justin Sanders suffered the loss, giving up six runs through as many innings on nine hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
He allowed all six runs in the first inning. From the second through the sixth, he allowed just three hits and no runs with his lone walk in between.
His counterpart Joe Ammirato went four innings, giving up just two hits and one walk with seven punchouts against Live Oak and the Bells’ bullpen took things from there.
Live Oak’s best chance game in the top of the first when Jacob Ryder hit a one-out single and Kyle Riveron was hit by a pitch. But back-to-back Ks ended the threat and Bellarmine put things away in the next half innings.
The Bells got all six runs in the bottom of the first, highlighted by an Antonio Garcia two-run home run.
Live Oak again threatened in the top of the second, with Chris Knopf drawing a walk and Damon Rodriguez drilling a single.
Rodriguez went 1-1 with a walk for the day.
Live Oak next plays Prospect in Saratoga, weather permitting, on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The Acorns will play their first home game 4 p.m. Friday against Piedmont Hills before opening league play next week against Leland.
Live Oak softball falls to Carmel
The Live Oak softball team is 1-1 through the young season, after falling 12-7 to Carmel. The Acorns had games scheduled for over the weekend, but were rained out.
The Acorns got into a slug match with Carmel on March 1, with the two teams combining for 19 runs on 31 hits.
Live Oak had scoring rallies in the first and fifth innings, but Carmel chipped way in the interim, scoring in all but the fifth.
Kaylie Lowery and Kelli St. Clair both went 3-4 for the Acorns, with Lowery scoring twice and St. Clair driving in three while scoring once.
Jordyn Campbell also had a multi-hit day, going 2-4 with a run.
Live Oak will next travel to Gilroy for a 4 p.m. game against the Mustangs on Tuesday.
