Firefighters from CalFire, the Morgan Hill Fire Department and South Santa Clara County Fire District raised $22,740.90 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association with their annual “Fill the Boot” fundraiser.
CAL FIRE SCU firefighters collected donations from drivers and pedestrians passing by June 3-5 at the intersections of Monterey Road and Tennant Avenue, and at Monterey Road and Main Avenue. The fundraiser helps to benefit over 1,900 local families served by MDA and will send many local children to the MDA Summer Camp.
“The support from the citizens was once again overwhelming to experience,” said Herb Alpers of CalFire. “Thank you for the continued support for a great cause.”
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health agency working to defeat muscle diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. MDA is the largest non-governmental sponsor of neuromuscular disease research.
