young musicians in southern Santa Clara and San Benito
counties.
South Valley Symphony’s second annual Al Navaroli Young Musicians Competition is looking to find and showcase talented young musicians in southern Santa Clara and San Benito counties. It is open to musicians age 10 through 18 and all instruments (except piano) may apply. The first place winner perform as a soloist with South Valley Symphony during the orchestra’s 2009-2010 season.
Applicants must select a concerto written for their instrument and provide a prescreening recording of one movement of their piece along with a $30 application fee. A maximum of 15 applicants will be chosen as finalists for the actual competition which will be held in late November or early December. The deadline for receiving applications is Nov. 15.
