Live Oak High School students have been raising money all year for a variety of causes.
This year’s Donkey Basketball game – and other fundraising campaigns – under the guidance of Kendra Lewis and Erin Larrus, earned nearly $6,000 to support Future Farmers of America activities.
The Live Oak Leadership classes recently hosted a school-wide Pennies for Patients Campaign, benefiting the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society of America. Contribution boxes were distributed throughout the high school. Through the generosity of the students, they collected pocket change and were able to donate more than $500 to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
Finally, the Live Oak Patriot Club, under the guidance of Paula Haaser, raised more than $2,000 this year to support a platoon in Iraq and provide Christmas treats to Iraqi families. The Patriot Club recently hosted a “Red, White and Blue Extravaganza” (dance) to collect funds for the troops. This group works throughout the year to raise awareness about the men and women in the armed services stationed around the world.
