Man arrested for carrying sock and padlock
A San Jose man was cited for carrying a padlock inside a sock in his vehicle, admitting he had the contraption for use as a possible weapon.
Nicholas Small, 26, of San Jose was pulled over by a Morgan Hill Police officer for a traffic violation about 2:45 p.m. Friday. During the stop, the driver told the officer he was carrying a weapon for protection, according to Sgt. Jerry Neumayer.
The homemade weapon was the sock with a “large padlock” inside. The device was confiscated, and Small was cited on suspicion of possession of an unlawful weapon. He was released after being booked at the police station, Neumayer said.
Domestic violence leads to arrest
A Morgan Hill man was arrested for “punching and kicking” his girlfriend, causing facial injuries that required medical attention, police said.
After the incident that happened at a residence on Claremont Drive in west Morgan Hill, the 40-year-old female victim was treated at the scene by paramedics for a swollen lower lip, scratches on her shoulders, a bruised eye, and “severe pain to the jaw,” Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said.
The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. Sunday night.
The victim’s boyfriend, Phillip Cannizzaro, 40, was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of making criminal threats, and domestic battery.
Two arrested for fight outside bar
A fight in the parking lot of a Morgan Hill bar resulted in two arrests, according to police.
An officer on a routine patrol check of Strixe Lounge at 650 Tennant Station noticed a “large group” of people in the parking lot about 12:50 a.m. Saturday, according to Morgan Hill Police Sgt. Jerry Neumayer.
When the officer approached the group, the crowd began to scatter. The officer determined that a fight had occurred, and identified a male victim with visible but minor facial injuries resulting from an assault.
Police located and arrested two suspects who were still on the scene. Rodolfo Hill, 32, of San Jose was arrested on suspicion of battery and a parole violation, Neumayer said.
Edward Lopez, 27, of Gilroy was arrested on suspicion of battery and possession of a dangerous weapon. Neumayer said Lopez was carrying an illegal knife in his pocket.
Both suspects were transported to Santa Clara County Jail.
Police do not think the fight was gang related.
Juveniles suspected of egging home
A resident of Lone Hill Drive reported a group of juveniles had thrown eggs at the house.
The resident said her husband is a former volunteer football coach for a local team, and suspects the teens who egged the home are his former players, according to police.
Most of the eggs washed off the house, but some window screens were damaged, the resident told police.
The vandalism was reported 9:24 a.m. Saturday.
