SAN JOSE — Willow Glen scored three goals in the first half on the way to beating Sobrato 4-2 Tuesday in a dual between Blossom Valley Athletic League-Santa Teresa Division front-runners.

The host Rams are alone in first place at 8-1-3 overall and 5-1-1 in league.

The Bulldogs (7-4-2, 4-2-1) scored twice in the first half, getting unassisted goals by Arturo Ceja and Jesus Del Real. Sobrato goalkeeper Simon Schmidt had five saves.

The Bulldogs will travel to Yerba Buena on Tuesday.

LO draws even with Yerba Buena

Live Oak remained .500 in BVAL-Santa Teresa Division play Tuesday, drawing a scoreless tie at home versus Yerba Buena.

The Acorns moved to 5-4-3 overall and 2-2-2 in league. They play at Pioneer on Tuesday.

Third straight shutout for Lady Acorns

Posting their third consecutive shutout, the Live Oak Lady Acorns kept stride with first-place Willow Glen on Wednesday with a 3-0 victory at Westmont.

Fabiola Diaz netted her 12th goal of the season, and Kourtney Kientzy and Megan Rauschnot scored once. Kientzy, Rauschnot and Amanda Morgan were credited with assists for Live Oak, which improved to 10-1-2 overall and 6-1-2 in the BVAL-Santa Teresa Division.

The Lady Acorns followed suit with the Live Oak boy’s team Tuesday, drawing a scoreless tie at home versus Yerba Buena.

The Lady Acorns host Del Mar at 3:15 p.m. Friday.

Bulldogs open second half with loss

Jessica Chase’s late goal lifted the Branham Bruins to a 1-0 victory over Sobrato on Tuesday in San Jose.

The game marked the second-half opener of BVAL-Mount Hamilton Division play.

The Lady Bulldogs (1-9-3 overall, 1-6-1 BVAL) totaled eight shots, including two by Kayla Nishimatsu and Maureen King. Sobrato goalkeeper Maggie Cropp made four saves.

The Bulldogs have an away game against Piedmont Hills at 3:15 p.m. Friday.
