Residential burglary

Leobardo Armendariz, 29, of San Jose, 5:37 p.m. Sunday, after admitting he caused about $5,000 in damage to two trucks’ windows and the windows and doorframe of an apartment on the 600 block of San Bruno in Morgan Hill.

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Christopher Valdez, 22, of San Martin, 11:56 a.m. Sunday, on the 12400 block of Murphy Avenue in San Martin for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of lost property.

Arthur Louis Marquez, 51, of Salinas, 9:15 a.m. Jan. 14, on the 10400 block of Center Avenue for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Counterfeit bills

Roger Eugene Johnson, 37, and Peter Allen York, 43, both of Modesto, 2:45 p.m. Jan. 14, on the 10000 block of Pacheco Pass Highway, after they tried to pass off counterfeit $50 bills at two different stores and deputies found nine counterfeit $50 bills in their possession during a traffic stop.

Registration fraud

James Michael Ramirez, 44, of Fremont, 9:59 a.m. Jan. 13, near Monterey Road and Vineyard Circle in Morgan Hill for registration fraud, driving without a license and not having proof of insurance.

Other sheriff’s incidents

Identity theft

A Gilroy woman reported that someone changed the address and PIN of her American Express card and made miscellaneous charges to her account, Jan. 5.

A Gilroy couple reported that someone had made several unauthorized charges, including a subscription to The New York Times, to their Visa, between Jan. 10 and Jan. 13.

Burglary

A business was ransacked and $3 was taken from the cash register and an undisclosed amount of money was taken from a storage container, between 5:30 p.m. Sunday and 8:15 a.m. Monday, on the 13200 block of Monterey Road in San Martin. Thieves entered the business by removing a skylight.

A residence was ransacked and jewelry and miscellaneous items were stolen, between 5 and 5:50 p.m. Thursday, on the 15900 block of Foothill Avenue in Morgan Hill. Thieves entered the home through an unlocked sliding glass door.

Stolen vehicle

A 2006 red Chevy Trailblazer was stolen from the driveway of a residence, between 6 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 a.m. Monday, on the 17900 block of Condit Road in Morgan Hill.

Grand theft

A 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro laptop and a Verizon phone were stolen from an unlocked 2007 grey Honda Fit, between 4 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday, on the 11400 block of Shean Court in San Martin.

Found property

A set of keys was found, 2 p.m. Jan. 14, on the 10000 block of Monterey Road.

A black canvas bag with red handles containing miscellaneous property was turned into the South County Sheriff’s Substation, 80 Highland Avenue, 8:30 a.m. Dec. 26. The owner of the bag only wanted some of the property in the bag and the rest was submitted for destruction.

License plate theft

The rear license plate of a black Carson trailer was stolen, between 4:30 p.m. Dec. 16 and 2 p.m. Jan. 14, on the 10000 block of Monterey Road.

Vandalized street signs

Three street signs were spray painted with red and grey markings, causing more than $400 in damage, reported 10:30 a.m. Jan. 13, near Scheller and Dougherty avenues in Morgan Hill.
