Should the Senate restore funding for abortions in the health
care reform bill?
THIS WEEK’S QUESTION:
“Should the Senate restore funding for abortions in the health
care reform bill?” Yes: 4 No: 3
? Karen Anderson: “Absolutely YES! Who needs the financial help more than women in poverty? It is not illegal and should be a decision by a woman and her doctor.”
? Bert Berson: “Yes. They should eliminate this thinly veiled attempt to ban abortions.”
? David Cohen: “Yes and I hope they do.”
? Dennis Kennedy: “No! Doing so would kill any chance of approving a health care reform bill.”
? Julian Mancias: “No. The more complicated and costly that the health care reform bill is the less likely it will pass.”
? John Quick: “Although I believe abortion as allowed under the law should be covered, I do not want it restored to this bill because it could kill the bill. Eat your elephants one bite at a time.”
? Emily Shem-Tov: “Yes, current private insurance coverage for abortion should not be taken away in the new health care system.”
