Police arrested a San Jose woman for drunken driving after her car collided with a truck in San Martin.

Just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, a 2005 Honda Civic driven by San Jose resident Misty Auwbrey, 26, traveling southbound on Columbet Avenue toward San Martin Avenue entered the intersection directly in front of a 1995 Ford F350 traveling westbound on San Martin toward Columbet, according to a CHP press release.

The truck collided with the left front and side of the Honda, flipped and landed in a field nearby. The Honda spun to the west on San Martin Avenue, police said. CHP Officer Jaime Rios did not know whether Auwbrey ran the stop sign posted for drivers on Columbet or whether she stopped, then proceeded into the intersection in front of the truck. Rios also was not sure if either vehicle was speeding at the time of the collision.

Auwbrey got a cut to her head and was flown to San Jose Regional Medical Center, according to the CHP. Her passenger, a 22-year-old man from San Jose, suffered head trauma and a dislocated shoulder and was taken to the same medical center. Both were admitted with serious injuries.

As of 2 p.m. Thursday, both were still in the hospital, Rios said. The driver of the truck, a Gilroy resident, complained of pain to his neck, lower back and left shoulder and was taken to Saint Louise Regional Hospital.

Police arrested Auwbrey for driving under the influence but she was not booked into jail because her injuries required her to stay in the hospital.
