Event planners expect about 150 children to attend the event, which is sponsored by the American Institute of Mathematics, Fry’s Electronics and BookSmart.
This year, the Math Mardi Gras has attracted more than 115 volunteers. That’s more than the number of children who attended last year’s event. About 100 students, from second through twelfth grade packed the Hiram Morgan Hill Room inside the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road.
The event will be at the same location this year, but have added the El Toro Room for a larger number of tables and more space for the lower grades.
The popular Rubik’s cube and Sudoku competitions will return again this year, as will the crowning of the Math Mardi Gras King and Queen.
Door prizes will be awarded every 30 minutes.
