SAN JOSE — With ace pitcher Zach Jones on the hill, the Santa Teresa Saints evened the score with Sobrato on Thursday, winning 5-1 in San Jose.

The Bulldogs were in position to pull even with Santa Teresa in the Mount Hamilton Division standings, but instead dropped to 4-4 in league play and 5-7 overall. They edged the Saints 2-1 in eight innings Tuesday, becoming only the second team to beat Santa Teresa (10-2 overall, 6-2 league) this season.

Thursday’s rematch was scoreless until the fifth inning, when Santa Teresa poured in three runs. The Saints put two more across in the sixth before Billy Birrell scored Sobrato’s only run in the seventh.

Chris Bradley (0-3) struck out five and batted 2 for 3 with a double for the Bulldogs, who continue league play at 3:30 p.m. today against Branham.
