home against Pioneer
MORGAN HILL — You can’t turn your back on these Acorns.

The Live Oak baseball team put together another thrilling rally Friday on the way beating Willow Glen 12-8 in a Blossom Valley Athletic League interdivision game at Sarich Field.

The host Acorns (6-4 overall, 1-3 BVAL Mount Hamilton Division) were coming off two league losses to Branham in which they mustered large comebacks.

This time, Live Oak finished the job.

After Willow Glen (7-2, 4-0 BVAL Santa Teresa Division) built a 6-0 lead in the second inning, the Acorns answered with one run in the bottom half, four runs in the third inning and two in the fourth, cutting the Rams’ lead to 8-6. Live Oak went in front for good with a five-run fifth inning.

The Acorns suppressed Willow Glen through the final four innings behind solid relief efforts from J.P. Howard and Ken Hall. Howard earned his first victory of the season, surrendering two hits in three innings.

Live Oak edged the Rams 12-11 in hits.

Michael Schreiber led the Acorns with a 3-for-3 batting effort, driving in four runs in the process. Gabriel Mancias, Connor Sutton and Rich Martinez added two hits apiece; and Nick Pusateri two RBIs. Teammate Dylan Davis scored three times.

Live Oak will wrap up a three-game home stand Tuesday against Mount Hamilton foe Pioneer.
