SAN MATEO — The rugby team from Live Oak High School lost 60-5 to powerful San Mateo last Saturday at the College of San Mateo.
The host Warriors got things rolling early, scoring their first try at the five-minute mark. No conversions were attempted during the game because the goal posts at one of the field were under repair. San Mateo padded its lead to 20-0 during the next 25 minutes and went into the break with a comfortable lead.
The Warriors kept the pressure on in the second half with more unconverted tries. They built a 50-0 lead before senior 8-man Mason Lammers touched down a try for the Acorns at the 55-minute mark.
San Mateo added two more tries to end the scoring.
Live Oak continued Skyhawk Conference play Saturday against the Silicon Valley Durabos. The result will be printed Friday.
