The Sobrato tennis team pulled to 2-2 in Santa Teresa Division play Tuesday with a 6-0 triumph over winless Oak Grove in San Jose.
Ronnie Pollard defeated Jason Montgomery 6-2, 6-3 in the top singles match, and Tyler Pecsok beat D. Nguyen 6-1, 6-2. The Bulldogs took the other singles matches in three sets. Nick Garber rallied past Paolo Abella 5-7, 6-2, 6-0, and Zach Thomas outlasted J. Truong in a marathon, 6-7, 6-4, 10-7.
In the only two doubles matches, Sobrato’s top pair of Abella and Mendieola beat Vu and Nguyen 6-2, 6-4; and Chris Holmes and Khuzema Khairullah tipped Oak Grove’s Dang and Dina 6-2, 6-3.
The Bulldogs will host their next match Thursday against Pioneer.
Andrew Hill 4, Live Oak 3
The Live Oak tennis team went 3 for 4 in singles matches, but couldn’t get past Andrew Hill.
The visiting Falcons swept the doubles slate, receiving a forfeit in the No. 3 match, and won 4-3 Tuesday in a West Valley Division match at Live Oak High School.
The Acorns fell to 2-2 in league.
Live Oak’s Jimmy Shedden and Dylan Johnson defeated Chris Ortiz and Jimmy Lau in straight sets, respectively, and Ryan Campbell beat Andrew Hill’s Rick Nguyen 6-1, 6-2.
The Falcons answered with Long Tran’s win over Derek Johnson, 6-2, 6-3, and Phong Nguyen and Kevin Rulloda outlasted Live Oak seniors Shane Herber and Sean Sullivan in a hard-fought match, 6-4, 6-4.
In the No. 2 doubles match, Andrew Hill’s Steven Lam and Vincent Vo defeated Gabriel Fluckhiger and Spencer McClellan 6-3, 6-1.
The Acorns host Del Mar on Tuesday, also in league play.
