SANTA CLARA — Two-time MVP Kurt Warner is taking a physical exam and meeting with the top brass of the San Francisco 49ers, who are in hot pursuit of the free agent quarterback.
Warner led the Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl last season, but hasn’t re-signed with the club. NFC West rival San Francisco has no settled starting quarterback, and the 49ers seem very interested in signing the 37-year-old passer.
Warner arrived at the 49ers’ training complex shortly before lunchtime with his wife, Brenda. He’s scheduled for a typical free-agent examination, followed by a lunch meeting with general manager Scot McCloughan and coach Mike Singletary.
