Live Oak four wins from playoff contention
MORGAN HILL — One down, four to go.

That’s the mentality for the Live Oak boy’s basketball team following Friday’s 56-47 victory over James Lick in Live Oak Gym.

The Acorns snapped a three-game losing streak and moved to 7-14 overall and 3-7 in Blossom Valley Athletic League-West Valley Division play. They have to win their remaining four games to become postseason eligible.

James Lick (4-18, 2-8) was eliminated from playoff contention.

Junior guard Michael Schrieber scored a game-high 20 points, and Alika Bantilan poured in 13 to lead Live Oak. Dominic Leach added nine points for the Acorns, who led 24-20 at halftime.

The Comets received 11 points from Raymond Hurd and nine from Devin Taylor.

Live Oak on Wednesday will travel to San Jose before playing its final home game against Gunderson next Friday.
