than 400 teddy bears and stuffed animals she collected to Community
Solutions earlier this month.
Nicole Coddington, a senior at Notre Dame High School in San Jose and graduate of Carden Academy in Morgan Hill, donated more than 400 teddy bears and stuffed animals she collected to Community Solutions earlier this month. A graduation requirement for seniors at Notre Dame is that they come up with their own community service project, find a sponsor, and make the project happen. Coddington chose the difficult subject of domestic violence and its impact on children. She decided to collect teddy bears for children whose lives are affected by domestic violence.
She attended Carden Academy in Morgan Hill from kindergarten through eighth grade (graduating in 2005), so she contacted Karen Crane at Carden to see if she would sponsor her. Crane agreed and Coddington presented her project to the parents at Carden, the middle school students and the Carden faculty in January. She collected stuffed animals two weeks.
The bears will be donated to Community Solutions and Coddington will present her project at Community Solution’s board meeting March 3.
