I am the bell lady and I noticed the bell going south on U.S.
101 at the Cochrane Road entrance is still missing. They did
install one on the other side of the freeway at the exit to Morgan
Hill. So my question was when is the bell at the entrance of
Cochrane going to be installed going south. So that’s the bell
that’s missing.

Dear Bell Lady,
Red Phone contacted Caltrans spokesman Benjamin Edokpayi, who said they are working with headquarters in Sacramento to find the exact location of the missing bell.
“When the location is found, a new bell will be installed.”
So, good bell lady, keep an eye out. If you don’t see one in, say, a month or so, do the following: first, remember that it is a state bureaucracy and second, give Red Phone a call and we’ll ring Benjamin’s bell again.
Strewn tires makes walker’s head spin
“About three weeks ago while walking along the creek down Easy street I noticed someone had dumped about 200 old tires next to the lake that the creek spills into. Neighbors have said that they have called about it but everyday I walk down the creek the unsightly tires are still there and getting more strewn about. Who is responsible for removing the tires?”
Dear Tired of the Tires,
Red Phone contacted Mori Struve, deputy director of public works operations, who said a resident in the area of the park notified the city of the tires, which had been dumped illegally.
“As the city investigated the matter we discovered a chain prohibiting unauthorized vehicles from entering the property had been cut which has since been repaired,” Struve said. “Although the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department owns the property, to address the issue as quickly as possible the city paid to have the tires removed.”
Good caller, hope that answers your question. And, to the caller who notified the city, much thanks.
