A group of armed robbers stole up to $700 cash from a taco stand in north Morgan Hill, according to police.

Three Hispanic men pulled up to the El Capri Taco Wagon at Monterey Street and Cochrane Road about 9:50 p.m. Sunday. They approached the 54-year-old cook as he was closing the store, displayed what looked like a rusty handgun, and demanded money, Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said.

The cook gave them cash and they fled north on Monterey Street in a white Nissan pickup truck. A witness was able to give police a possible license plate number for the fleeing truck.

According to the cook, the three men appeared to be between 18 and 28 years of age.

Neumayer said the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the robbery may call the Morgan Hill Police Department at (408) 779-2101.
