Was Time magazine correct in selecting Federal Reserve Chairman
Ben Bernanke as its Person of the Year?
THIS WEEK’S QUESTION:

“Was Time magazine correct in selecting Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke as its Person of the Year?” Yes: 4 No: 2

? Karen Anderson: “Bernanke is certainly a Person of the Year in the sense that he has controlled a lot of the economy as we come back from weak oversight of financial institutions.”

? Bert Berson: “Yes. Fed actions saved our economy from an even worse disaster.”

? David Cohen: “Yes. Bernanke was the one person most responsible for the handling of the economy in 2009 and therefore an appropriate choice for Time’s Person of the Year.”

? Julian Mancias: “No. I understand the reasoning behind Time magazine’s choice but I would have preferred someone more worthy, like Sonia Sotomayor.”

? Lisa Pampuch: “No. He is not the person, group, idea, place, or machine that for better or for worse did the most to influence the events of 2009. Barack Obama, Twitter, heck, even Salon’s Crazy Person of the Year and Media Matters’ Misinformer of the Year, Glenn Beck, have done more to influence the events of 2009 than Bernanke.”

? Emily Shem-Tov: “Yes, they always pick someone who has had a big impact on the news – and the economy has certainly been the big story this year.”
