Live Oak Field Hockey
Live Oak had a strong week, taking down Los Altos Tuesday with a 1-0 win before staging a two-goal comeback against Monte Vista for a tie on Wednesday.
Taylor Dempsey had two goals and two assists in the stretch, including a game-tying goal on Wednesday to salvage a 3-3 tie against Monte Vista.
On Tuesday, Giovanna Cimino pushed across the lone score with an assist from Dempsey.
The duo started at the 50 and pushed the ball across the field with Dempsey putting a strong pass to Cimino who found the back of the cage.
On Wednesday, Live Oak went down early 3-1 to Monte Vista before a strong push in the second half salvaged a tie.
Dempsey took a pass from Amy Guzman from the top of the circle to go back door against Monte Vista’s goalie for the first half goal.
In the second, Cimino pushed across another two-man break goal with Dempsey getting the assist.
That set up Dempsey later in the half who battled for possession of the ball, eventually winning it to push the ball across the goal line.
“It was nice to see them battle back,” said coach Gina Sanders. “They could easily have given up going down two goals, but they stayed in it.”
Live Oak is home Friday against Lynbrook starting at 3:30 p.m.
