The 39th Annual Charlie Wedemeyer All Star Football game is set to kick off 7:30 Wednesday at San Jose City College, pitting the best of South Santa Clara County against the best of the north county schools.
Nine seniors from the South Valley are set to compete in the All Star game, led by Live Oak Head Coach Mike Gemo.
The Acorns received the lion’s share of players among the four area schools with four nods: Fullback/Nose Tackle Mike Butterworth, Defensive Back Jerardo Caro, Linebacker/Tightend Brandon Duran and Linebacker/Runningback Joey Rodriguez.
Sobrato received two spots on the team with Free Safety/Wide Receiver Isaiah Hardy and Runningback/Defensive Back Miguel Redmond.
From the Gilroy area are Offensive/Defensive Lineman Tyler Decarlo from Christopher and Offensive Lineman Gianfranco Fortino and Wide Receiver Brendan Holler from Gilroy.
Also competing are players from Andrew Hill, Bellarmine, Branham, Evergreen Valley, Gunderson, Independence, Leland, Oak Grove, Overfelt, Piedmont Hills, Pioneer, Santa Teresa, Silver Creek, Valley Christian and Willow Glen
