Extended standing ovation for a wonderful person who supports our community
Dear Editor,
The evening of July 27 was very special as nearly 300 attendees toasted and cherished one of Morgan Hill’s philanthropic leaders, Mike Cox, at Guglielmo Winery.
Mike’s boundless energy and devotion to his community, his profession and his family was highlighted in a moving and motivational program.  The program concluded with the presentation of the Leadership Excellence Award to Mike by Leadership Morgan Hill president Adam Ferguson which was greeted by an extended standing ovation.
The event’s success was not limited to Mike’s recognition. A second purpose for this annual celebration of a Morgan Hill community leader is to provide funding for the Leadership Morgan Hill  program, and the event was extremely successful in that regard as well.
LMH is a nine-month program that annually immerses over 20 future leaders in all things Morgan Hill. Tuition covers less than half the cost of the program, the rest is funded by the Leadership Excellence Award event.  This year’s event honoring Mike raised enough money to fund next year’s program and several scholarships, an overwhelming success!
Successful events are very dependent on sponsorships and contributions, and this event had plenty!
The mere mention of Mike’s name garnered immediate support. Huge thanks to major sponsors Ladera Grill, Heritage Bank of Commerce, PG&E, Union Bank, Morgan Hill Community Foundation, Johnson Lumber/ACE Hardware, Recology, Rotary Club of Morgan Hill, Anritsu Company, Ditmore Family Vineyards, Smart Products, Dell Maggiore Stone, George Chiala Farms, Rusconi, Foster & Thomas and Linda Sanborn.
All food for the event was contributed, thanks to Rosy’s at the Beach, Ladera Grill, The Good Fork, Odeum, Huntington Station, Mama Mia’s, Noah’s Bar & Bistro and Catered by Diana.  There were so many other regular and in-kind sponsors and silent auction contributors that helped make it a success and their support is very much appreciated. The program speakers were outstanding and dancing to the Legally Blue Band – who contributed their time and talent – was such fun!
The program included the world premier of Mike Withrow’s song Peptoniphilus coxii , and it was a show stopper – you can catch it on You Tube.  To learn more about Leadership Morgan Hill, please visit www.leadershipmorganhill.org.

Embassies closing and the lies from the Obama administration keep flowing
Dear Editor,
Why are so many embassies closing?
We have been told repeatedly that “Osama bin Laden is dead and al Qaeda is on the run.”
If so why are we in retreat, closing embassies and consulates in the Muslim world?
We have been told that Benghazi is a made-up scandal.
We have been told that the IRS is a made-up scandal?
We have been told that operation “Fast and Furious” was no big deal. We have been told that unemployment is down to 7%.
We have been told that the Keystone pipeline will only create 50 jobs.
Am I the only one who no longer believes what our administration is telling us?
