History: Johnson Lumber Company is one of the biggest lumber and hardware suppliers in the greater San Francisco Bay area. Started in 1980 by Keith Johnson to supply lumber to multi-unit construction projects, the company is still family-owned and operated by Keith’s son, Mike Johnson. The company includes a six-acre paved facility and a 13,000-square-foot Ace Hardware store serving homeowners as well as building professionals.
Philosophy: Company’s motto is “service is all we sell.” Company believes that by giving customers superior, friendly and expert service, customers will keep coming back. Company has about 80 employees who have been with company for several years and know the business well.
Services: A customer service department answers and handles customer phone calls. Johnson Lumber team of drivers run company’s fleet of trucks and make sure orders are filled and delivered on time. Store staff helps customers find tools, hardware and building materials. Craftsmen on site handle special orders such as custom-made doors and wooden decorative wall trims, built to customers’ specifications.
hours: Monday through Saturday, 7am to 8pm. Lumber yard closes at dusk.
