With Sobrato trailing by one point with less than two seconds left in the game, sophomore Wesley Craig continued to leave a mark on the Bulldogs’ boys basketball team.

Craig grabbed a free throw rebound and scored a quick basket as time expired Tuesday to give the Bulldogs a double-overtime 65-64 victory over Silver Creek. The win gives Sobrato a 9-4 overall record and a 3-0 mark in the Blossom Valley Athletic League’s Santa Teresa Division.

In the back and forth game Sobrato survived because of 15 points from Karl Mann and Craig. With less than eight seconds left in the second overtime down by three points, Mann pulled Sobrato to within one point as he scored when he was fouled in the key. After missing the free throw, Craig grabbed the rebound and scored as time expired.

Neither team could pull away throughout the night, as Sobrato held a three-point halftime lead. The lead didn’t last long, as Silver Creek pulled closer in the third and fourth quarters to tie the game at 49.

In overtime, Silver Creek held the early advantage before Sobrato’s furious comeback in the closing seconds.
