With Anderson Dam retrofit, the city has unique opening to join Hill and Cochrane roads

After attending Tuesday’s meeting at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center and listening to the Santa Clara Valley Water District’s plan, a major re-alignment of Cochrane Road will be undertaken.
The City should take this opportunity to complete the connection of Hill Road through to Cochrane Road. This would then allow removal of the bend at the foot of the Anderson Dam and relieve the burden on the property owners adjacent to Coyote Creek. Access to the reservoir and Coyote Road would then be from Half Road and East Main Avenue.
A significant amount of new fill is needed for the buttresses as outlined in the meeting. The bulk of which is to be blasted from the hills on the San Jose side of the reservoir.
Given the unique geology of the region, I hope some consideration is given to preserving the agate bearing hydrothermal vents and the pillow lava eroding above the western shore between the existing boat ramp and Holiday Drive lest we repeat the bulldozing of a unique feature like done at the Lion’s Den.

Hey, how about giving the poor guy at the bookstore a ‘Nook’ to sit down in?
Dear Editor,
I am writing concerning Barnes & Noble. I go there at least twice a month and it’s my grandson’s favorite place to go! My wife enjoys our trip there because the staff is very friendly plus you have a Starbucks to enjoy with your favorite books.
I just have a concern. The guy that sells the Nook is an excellent salesman. He talked me into buying a Nook, and I truly love it! I haven’t talked to him since, but every time we go there, this poor guy is standing! We spend at least two to three hours there, and every time we’ve gone this poor guy is standing! He’s very professional in his manner and very courteous. Can’t staff offer him a chair?
