The Sobrato girls water polo team qualified for CCS with a win over Evergreen Valley Thursday in the BVAL tournament. The Bulldogs, however, were sent to the third place game following a tough match against Leland Friday.
The Bulldogs overcame a 4-2 first half deficit to beat Evergreen 8-4 Thursday to advance to the third round of the BVAL tournament, having received a bye in the first.
Against Evergreen, senior Laeni Gross led the comeback in the second half followed by sophomore Abby Pfefferlen.
Sobrato fell to Leland 15-4 on Friday, setting up a contest for third place pending the outcome of the late game.
The Bulldogs will play 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Independence.
By playing in the third place game, the Bulldogs will advance to the CCS playoffs.
