Oakwood junior golfer Amay Poria continued his solid start to the season by tying for ninth place in the Junior Tour of Northern California Spring Series I Boys Championship Flight last weekend at Elkhorn Golf Club in Stockton.
Poria tied for ninth with a two-round total of 152. The Morgan Hill resident carded 77 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday. He finished only four shots behind the champion, Joshua McCarthy of Danville.
Also last week, Poria earned medalist honors by shooting 1-over-par 36 in a high school match at Pacific Grove Golf Links.
Poria hopes to continue his hot start when he competes in the American Junior Golf Association Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., from March 28 to 31.
