Red Phone

Dear Red Phone,

“It looks like the traffic lights on E. Dunne and the west side of 101 were re-timed for Mardi Gras to favor the southbound 101 exit. This is all well and good but they didn’t set them back afterwards. Now I see people getting impatient and going through the red light thinking it’s stuck. Can you please bring this up with the City?”

Dear frustrated with traffic signals, the following is a response from Morgan Hill City Manager Steve Rymer. We hope you find this helpful:

“The City did not request any changes to the signal lights for Mushroom Mardi Gras and certainly don’t believe that Caltrans made any changes to their lights at the off ramp (Caltrans controls the off ramp signals). We went out and observed the lights both at the off ramp and on the street west of the off ramp and we observed no abnormalities. If someone has a concern about the Caltrans signal, they can report it online at http://www.dot.ca.gov/pioform.html. If someone has a concern about the timing of a signal that the City controls (essentially all traffic signals not at an off ramp or on ramp,) they should contact the corporation yard at 408.776.7333 or en*****@mo********.gov.”
