Fred was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 21, 1925, the son of Arthur H. Ziemann and Lydia B. Groff Ziemann. After graduating from Shorewood High School, Fred enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served his country during World War 2. After the War, he attended the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. He moved to Southern California, where he met Verena, and married after a whirlwind courtship. Fred, Verena, and their daughters moved to Northern California in 1963. Fred was a sales manager for Firestone Tire, covering the 14 Western States. When he grew tired of traveling, he became an independent service station owner, with stations at Casa de Fruta, and in Gilroy and San Martin. He retired in 1983. He remained active in the community as a member of the Gilroy Elks, the Morgan Hill Lions Club, Sons-in-Retirement in both Gilroy, and Discovery Bay. Fred passed away after a short illness on February 7, 2013.

Fred is survived by his loving family including Verena, his wife of 64 years, his daughters Susan and Margie (Harvey Blodgett), and granddaughter Karen Blodgett, his sister Ellen Chestnutt and her sons David, Doug, and Tim.

Fred was a good man who was always willing to help his family and friends. He always had a joke to share. He was well-loved and will be greatly missed.
