The Santa Clara County Board of Education has elected Leon Beauchman as its president for the coming year and Darcie Green as vice president.
Both votes at the Board’s Wednesday meeting were unanimous following member Michael Chang’s nomination of Beauchman and member Julia Hover-Smoot’s nomination of Green.
Beauchman, who is currently serving his 13th year on the County Board, is the president of the Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators and director of the Wireless Communications Initiative, which is a project of Joint Venture Silicon Valley. He has also served on the board of directors for the California School Boards Association and the California County Boards of Education.
Green was appointed to the Board in 2012 to fill a vacancy in Area 6. She currently serves as the community and government relations manager for Kaiser Permanente South Bay.
