Morgan Hill – A Morgan Hill man is at large after allegedly breaking into a former girlfriend’s apartment twice last week.
Jeffrey Anders, 39, was arrested on Sept. 7 for domestic battery and false imprisonment after an incident with the former girlfriend, according to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
Thursday night, Anders, who was released from jail, broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and barricaded himself inside. He refused to open the door when police arrived. Officers were preparing to force the door open while continuing to talk with Anders, when he agreed to let them in. He was transported to Valley Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation, Swing said.
Anders’ former girlfriend was not home during the incident, and she wasn’t home on Friday, when, after his release from the hospital, he returned to the apartment and kicked in the door.
He left the apartment before officers arrived on the scene, Swing said. In an apparent attempt to evade officers, Anders changed clothes while officers were searching for him. The clothes he was seen wearing were found by an officer near the apartment.
Swing said the department requested a warrant for Anders’ arrest on charges of aggravated trespassing and burglary.
