Live Oak’s long win streak came to an end Thursday when the Acorns dropped their first Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division game to Leigh 3-2.
Despite outhitting the Longhorns 6-4, Live Oak had its 11-game win streak snapped. It also allowed Leigh (14-6, 5-3) to avenge an earlier 2-1 defeat to the Acorns (16-4, 7-1).
Live Oak split two games Saturday in the Watsonville Tournament.
Noemi Torres pitched a one-hitter and Watsonville had five straight hits during a three-run third inning in a 6-0 win over the Acorns. Kelly McDonald broke up the no-hitter in the fifth.
Live Oak’s bats were booming in a 16-1 win over Harbor in which sophomore Kelly Hillman picked up her first varsity win. Hillman pitched a six-hitter. Kourtney Kientzy led an 11-hit attack by going 3 for 4 with two RBIs.
Dahajaira Lopez went 2 for 4 with a triple, double and four RBIs. Brittney Ondich was 2 for 3 with a double, a stolen base and two RBIs.
Sarah Locarnini walked and scored on a wild pitch for the Acorns first run in the first inning.
Sabrina LaCorte homered and Locarnini stole home for the second run during the second inning. Ondich doubled and stole home in the third inning.
The Acorns broke it open with a five-run fourth inning. Ondich singled in two runs, Kientzy’s base hit chased in another, and Lopez followed with a two-run triple.
Lopez was in the middle of a four-run fifth. After Kientzy singled in a run, Lopez hit a two-run double. Holly Turay singled in the fourth run.
Live Oak has two home games in the next two days. The Acorns host Leland today and Piedmont Hills on Wednesday.
