Morgan Hill – Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputies are looking for suspects who stole more than $100,000 in Sprint transmitting equipment from a base transmitter site north of Morgan Hill.

Sheriff’s spokesman Serg Palanov said the suspects stole the equipment the morning of June 16. An alarm at the site on Monterey Road and Blanchard Avenue sounded at approximately 5:40am. When deputies arrived, they found a cabinet behind a 6-foot fence had been broken into. The lock was missing from the cabinet, and two transmitting radios worth $25,000, a cellular timing unit worth $15,000, a cellular modular unit worth $20,000 and a modem card worth $30,000 were stolen.

Palanov said that the equipment could be for sale on the black market, possibly even sold by now. This is not the first time equipment has been stolen in the state, a Sprint technician told deputies, Palanov said.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (408) 808-4400.
