Morgan Hill – Campers in Henry Coe State Park northeast of Morgan Hill found the body of a man with a rifle lying beside it, according to Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ed Wise.
Campers reported to park rangers on Monday the location of the body, and rangers notified the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office. Wise said the body is believed to be that of John Neilsen, missing since 2005. A coroner’s representative said Friday that although next of kin had been notified, testing to confirm the identity is still under way.
Wise said the man is believed to have shot himself with the rifle. Neilsen was in his 40’s when his car was found in the parking lot of the park two years ago. Wise said the park was searched, but without result.
