Sobrato continued to wear out Independence pitching in a 12-2 rout Friday of the 76ers in a Blossom Valley Athletic League Santa Teresa Division contest.

Two days after whipping Independence 21-4 and collecting 14 hits, the Bulldogs were at it again, this time getting 16 hits from nine different players.

Leading the Sobrato attack was Ryan Melicker, who went 4 for 5 with three runs scored.

Ryan Williams went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs. Nick Wade was 2 for 4 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs. Bryan Yates was on base three times, going 2 for two and being hit by a pitch. Billy Birrell scored twice, and Tim Buich and Danny Nelson drove in two runs apiece.

After a scoreless first inning, Sobrato’s bats heated up. The Bulldogs scored twice in the second, six times in the third and two in the fourth before finishing with one run in the seventh. Independence scored its two runs in the fifth.

Sobrato is now 8-3 in its last 11 games with its only league loss in that span coming against Del Mar. The Bulldogs are 11-8 overall, 8-6 in BVAL.

Sobrato is at Evergreen Valley at 3:30pm Wednesday.

Softball

Sobrato will be happy to come home Wednesday.

After all, the Bulldogs have only played one game in Morgan Hill this month. The second will be against Independence at 3:30pm.

The road hasn’t been kind to Sobrato, which dropped an 11-2 Blossom Valley Athletic League Santa Teresa Division decision Friday at Independence. The loss left the Bulldogs at 7-11 overall, 2-6 in league.

The good news – Sobrato is 3-2 at home this season. Also, the Bulldogs beat the 76ers 3-1 earlier in the season.
