Consider Contracting Out Police Services

Dear Editor,

In response to your recent articles highlighting the current staffing and financial difficulties being faced by Morgan Hill Police Department, isn’t it time Morgan Hill considered contracting with Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office? This would solve the staffing issues and significantly reduce the city’s financial obligations, in addition to providing the current employees of MHPD a stable career with less overtime commitments. I believe the City of Morgan Hill is obligated to put serious consideration to this proposal in the best interests of it’s residents.

Good News From Iraq Is Tongue-in-Cheek

Dear Editor,

At first, reading the Times April 13 letter titled, “Good News From Iraq” I thought Morgan Hill doesn’t have enough sand for an ostrich to bury its head so deep! I wondered what newspapers and television was the writer reading and watching?

After reading it a few more times I got it. Keep up the good work, Frank, but be careful, unfortunately some people may believe this as fact not fiction.

Million Dollar Homes vs. Mushroom Odor

Dear Editor,

I have lived in the marvelous, quaint and friendly City of Morgan Hill for 10 years. I have never loved living anywhere as much as here.

The Condit Road Mushroom Plant is a blight on the area. I know it does not have to be like this because the plant on Santa Teresa and Watsonville Road do not emit the horrible smells that come from the Condit Road facility.

There are many, many million-dollar homes in this area and the residents are prevented from enjoying their backyards because the smell is so bad. When most of these homes were built it was not required to give a disclosure about the smell as it is now. I have friends that have moved here just two years ago that that beautiful garden and yard, but can’t sit out there because of the smell.

It surprises me with all the beautification and growth in public buildings, etc., that the city seems to have a closed nose to this problem. Someone needs to wake them up and perhaps they should hold a council meeting in one of the parking lots near the mushroom place. I bet something will be done about it then.

Let’s get the stink off or out of Condit Road.

A Tribute to Morgan Hill

Dear Editor,

Just a note to say how nice it is to live in Morgan Hill. We have a mayor and city council that put the needs of the community as their top and only priority. As a result we have an outstanding police force, an excellent fire department and community services that are remarkable. Our new Centennial Recreation Center, Community and Cultural Center, Aquatics Center, attractive parks, soon-to-be-opened Library, and continued tasteful development of downtown are a tribute to the voters of Morgan Hill who selected our city leaders.
