The Athletics scored three times in the top of the fifth inning to pull away and earn a 7-4 victory over the Yankees.

The scoring started early in this one, with the Yanks scoring twice in the top of the first. Nathaniel Batad led off with a single and Jason Struzik blasted a triple to deep center field. He scored on a sacrifice bunt by Tyler Pederson.

The A’s got one back in the bottom of the first when Nelson Pyle singled and advanced to third on a pair of errors and scored on a passed ball. The A’s added single runs in the next three innings, and the Yankees scored a run in the fourth as it went into the fifth with the A’s holding a 4-3 lead.

That’s when the A’s put the game out of reach. Miguel Carlos reached when a third strike was dropped and Zack McKerrow walked and Pyle singled.

Andrew Bueno delivered the big hit with a two-run double and Westyn Herscovitch added an RBI single to make it 7-3.

The Yankees tried to rally in the seventh. Auston Rutledge singled and later scored on a double by Christian Davies-White, but that was all they could manage and the A’s earned the win.

A’s 9, Marlins 3

The A’s shut down the Marlins offense after an explosive first inning to earn another victory.

After scoring twice in the first on a Matt Jarvis two-run double, the A’s watched the Marlins take the lead.

Jim Hagan singled and Nick Swanson hit an RBI double for the first run. Trenton Cisewski walked and Garrett Taylor gave the Marlins the lead with a two-run double.

However, that would be it for the Marlins.

The A’s regained the lead with two in the second on RBI singles from Miguel Gonzalez and Zack McKerrow. They added a run in the third and two more in the fourth to make it 7-3.

The Marlins had a chance in the fourth when they loaded the bases with no outs when Alex Schnorr and Jacob Fernandez walked and Ryan Perez was hit by a pitch. The A’s got out of the jam when Miguel Carlos made a shoestring catch to prevent a bases-clearing double and they followed that with a double play to maintain the four-run advantage.

The A’s finished it off when Andrew Bueno singled and scored in the fifth and Nelson Pyle walked and scored in the seventh.

Carlos showed off the glove again in the seventh with another shoestring catch to stifle another Marlins comeback attempt.

Yankees 10, Giants 4

Despite being outhit 7-6 by the Giants, the Yankees made their hits count in the win.

The Yankees opened up a close game in the fourth inning. Ty Pederson and Bradly Morris reached on walks, and Stevie Marquez and Matthew Bellah came through with RBI singles.

Auston Rutledge also doubled and scored in the inning. Marquez walked and scored. A great throw by Giants’ Jesse Sanchez to Lucas Cook at home cut down Bellah trying to score on Nathaniel Batad’s pop fly.

Batad and Jason Struzik came on in relief of Taylor Pullen and allowed an unearned run over five innings of two-hit relief and combined for 11 strikeouts.

The Giants gave pitcher Michael LemMon a two-run lead in the first when Michael Dukes and LemMon both doubled and Jordan Santiago singled in a run.

In the second inning, Jonathan Cervantes walked, Tony Pisciotta reached on an error and Duke’s RBI groundout gave the Giants a third run.

The Yankees scored two runs in the top of the second inning. Rutledge singled, Pederson reached on an error, and Morris and Marquez hit grounders that drove in runs. The Yankees scored two more in the third inning. Batad reached and Struzik hit an RBI single.
