Teenager associated with Sure
ños is arrested after being told of suspension for fight with
another student associated with Norteños
Morgan Hill – A 14-year-old Britton Middle School student was arrested Thursday after he allegedly threatened an administrator at the school.

According to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. Joe Sampson, Officer Kyle Christensen was called to the school earlier in the day after someone reported the student was carrying a concealed weapon, possibly a knife. No knife was found, Sampson said, and the student was told to calm down and return to class.

“This is a relatively new student, who is openly affiliated with Sureños,” Sampson said. “I understand there has been some tension on the campus since he started school there.”

Later on Thursday, Christensen was called to return to the campus because of a report the student had been fighting with another student.

The alleged Sureño had apparently instigated a fight with a student who is believed to be a Norteño by pushing the student into a desk in a dispute over gang issues, Sampson said.

The assistant principal broke up the fight and separated the two students.

When the assistant principal took the student who claims to be a Sureño to the office and told him he was suspended, the student became enraged and cursed at her, Sampson said, threatening to leave school grounds. She told the student she would have to call the police. He then “took a stance,” as if he was going to strike her, and she called police to request Christensen return to campus.

The student was taken to Juvenile Hall for allegedly battery and threatening a school official.

Sampson said that though there was reportedly a tense atmosphere on the campus, this is the first time he was aware of that there has been gang-related trouble on the campus since the beginning of the school year.
