Volunteers from the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS will go to the homes of the elderly and the disabled to help with household tasks May 7 to 12. Called the REALTOR Service Volunteer Program, the annual community outreach project gives real estate professionals the opportunity to serve the community.

Association realtors and affiliates, professionals who work in real estate-related sectors, will perform tasks that can be a challenge to seniors or the homebound, such as replacing light bulbs, flipping a mattress or washing windows. Volunteers will also handle minor plumbing problems, plant spring flowers or help with recycling.

“SCCAOR members give back to the community through a variety of activities all the year around,” SCCAOR President Warren Winsness said. “RSVP is a unique program in that our volunteers help those most in need with their basic daily tasks.”

This is the first year the county association will participate in the program.

Volunteers will visit seniors and the homebound in Morgan Hill, Gilroy, San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Campbell and Milpitas. Seniors and the disabled can request this free assistance by contacting Ellen Santomauro at (408) 445-5087 or el***@****or.com by April 6.
