The Live Oak roller hockey team skated its way into the new season and came up with a 10-8 victory on Friday over Wilcox.
The Acorns started their second season at Rollin’ Ice’s new facility at the Silver Creek Sportsplex.
The new home for high school roller hockey features three rinks, individual team locker rooms, and full, clear acrylic walls ideal for the fans watching the games. Besides the nice facility, Rollin’ Ice is now closer for the Live Oak team and their fans.
It was a close and exciting game on Friday night throughout the three periods, and playing with a full roster was a key factor in coming up with the win.
New to the team this season is junior Paul Anderson, who made an immediate impact and contributed key plays in the game. Another newcomer to the team, freshman Christian Simonsen, had a solid game on defense along with seniors Conner Williamson and Scott Alexander.
Junior goalie Kyle Rosenzweig defended the Acorns’ net well despite it being a high scoring game.
Senior forwards Seniors Brian Costello and Kyle Dutra were unstoppable on offense as they reeked havoc on the Wilcox defense.
Although the complete schedule is not out yet, the Live Oak team is sure to play again this Friday night for its second game of the season. Rollin’ Ice is located on 800 Embedded Way off Hellyer Avenue in San Jose.
