The playoffs started off with a bang for the Morgan Hill Pee Wee Raiders as Joey Rodriguez took the opening kick off 37 yards, to the Redwood City 38-yard line.

It looked like the Raiders would strike first but the euphoria was short lived.

On the next play from scrimmage, the Raiders fumbled and the 49ers recovered.

The Raider defense held strong and Kyle Quadros recovered a 49ers fumble giving the Raiders new life.

The Raiders struggled to get anything started on offense, and on fourth down Trevor Bearden booted a punt down to the 49ers 10-yard line.

The bad field position meant nothing to the 49ers who took the ball 90 yards, on an eight minute drive, scoring early in the second quarter.

This gave them all the points they would need to defeat the Raiders.

The Raiders played an off day, turning the ball over three times on four fumbles, and throwing one interception.

While grabbing two interceptions of their own, the Raiders defense struggled to stop the 49ers, who amassed over 300 yards of offense while holding the ball nearly 23 of the 40 minutes.

In an indication of what kind of day it was, the linebackers, Mitch Crowley and Kyle Quadros lead the team in tackles, with Jarrod Cerniglia and Safety Trevor Bearden right behind them.

Bearden saved a touchdown in the third quarter, and he also had an interception at at the Raiders one-yard line which he returned to the 23 in the second.

Joey Rodriguez also had a pick, but the Raiders could not get any momentum from the turnovers.

In spite of the effort by the defense, the offense could never get on track.

Quadros had the long run of the day at 24 yards and Bearden ran a fake punt for 13 yards, but came up a yard short of the first down.

The 49ers simply ground it out, amassing 259 rushing yards, and keeping the Raiders’ defense on the field for almost the whole game.

The Raiders end their season with a 5-4 record.
