Scholastic All-American Team.
Morgan Hill – Live Oak High School junior water polo player Steven Rick has been selected to the USA Swimming 2006-2007 Scholastic All-American Team.
In order to qualify for consideration, a minimum 3.50 grade point average, not counting electives or PE, in addition to qualifying for and competing in an individual event at the national or sectional level, is required.
Rick made the team by maintaining a 3.72 GPA and competing in five events at the 2007 Speedo Championships in Long Beach last March.
He is the defending Far Westerns 200-meter breaststroke champion, and placed in the top eight in all seven of his individual and relay events at the Western Zone Championships in Farmington, New Mexico last Aug.
Rick is a third year member of the Live Oak boys water polo team, under the coaching direction of Mack Haines and Kevin Paulsen, and will be a part of the Live Oak boys swimming team this spring, coached by Mack Haines and Lynn Gautschi.
He trains at the Almaden Swim Club, which also placed Los Gatos High School senior water polo player and swimmer Sarah Safir on the All-American Team.
