The Bronco Division A’s beat the Angels 6-1 on June 9, 2007 in Pony playoff action. The Angels scored in the first inning on a walk to Tommy Naranjo, who stole second, advanced to third on a sacrifice by Andrew Perez and then scored on a hit from Ben Nuño.

The Angels advanced another runner to third, but A’s catcher Westyn Herscovitch caught him at the plate on a fielder’s choice from third baseman Nelson Pyle.

The A’s tied the game when Pyle drew a walk, stole second, advanced to third on a sacrifice from Andrew Bueno and then crossed home plate on a passed ball.

The A’s then advanced another runner to third, but Angels’ pitcher Andrew Perez threw a strikeout, and then got a grounder to shortstop Naranjo to end the inning.

In the second inning A’s pitcher Lorenzo Aguayo put the Angels down in order with two strikeouts and an infield grounder back to the mound.

The Angels also dropped the A’s in order with two strikeouts from pitcher Andrew Perez and a fly ball to center fielder Ben Nuño.

The Angels got a two-out double from Perez in the top of the third, but a grounder to first baseman Casey Dawes ended the chance of a two-out Angels rally.

In the bottom of the third the A’s scored three runs on a walk to Miguel Gonzalez, a sacrifice by Zack McKerrow, another walk to Nelson Pyle, and double by Andrew Bueno. Bueno then scored on a stolen base and a passed ball.

The A’s built on their third inning lead in the fifth with two runs on back-to-back singles by Bueno and Dawes followed by a sacrifice bunt by Herscovitch, and singles by Matt Jarvis and Lorenzo Aguayo.

A’s pitcher Bueno put the Angels down in order in both the sixth and seventh innings with key plays from third baseman Aguayo and right fielder Miguel Carlos, easily taking the 6-1 win.

Yankees 16, Marlins 9

In the Bronco Division constellation bracket playoff game, the Yankees topped the Marlins 16-9 for the win.

The Marlins post the first run of the game when Nick Swanson singles, steals second base, advances to third when Connor Havstad reaches first on an error, and then scores on a passed ball.

The Yankees answer back with four runs in the bottom of the first inning starting when Nathaniel Batad singles, steals second and third base, and then takes home plate on a throwing error.

Jason Struzik walks and then steals second putting the Yankees in scoring position.

Jess Lares singles advancing Struzik to third, and with runners on the corners Auston Rutledge blasts a ground rule double sending Struzik home, and advancing Lares to third.

Stevie Marquez then walks to load the bases, but the Marlins defense turns a fast double play on the next at bat forcing Lares at home and getting Tyler Pederson at first.

Yankees’ Mathew Bellah then doubles in Ruteledge and Marquez ending the inning at 4-1.

The Marlins score three in the second tying the game 4-4, but the Yankees set the pace in the bottom of the inning scoring six more, stretching the lead to 10-4.

Both teams would notch a run in the third inning thanks to the base running of Havstad and Struzik of the Marlins and Yankees respectively.

Neither team would score again until the fifth inning when the Marlins score two to come within three runs of the Yankees, but the Yankees would answer back in the bottom of the inning bringing the lead to 15-7.

In the sixth inning the Marlins’ Swanson doubles scoring Jake Peachey and Alex Schnorr who both walked on.

The Yankees score one run in the bottom of the sixth when Auston Ruteledge doubles in Batad who reached on a walk.

The Yankees would keep the Marlins from scoring in the 7th to win the game 16-9.
