Charges Dismissed

  • Mary Jane Profeta, 38, no longer faces charges for suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance on Dec. 21, 2005. The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office dropped the case because there was insufficient evidence to file charges, according to the Morgan Hill Police Department.

February 1

  • Vandalism: A Volkswagen Passat that was parked at Trend West Resorts on Cochrane Circle on Jan. 26 or Jan. 27 was “keyed.” The report was taken at 1:45pm.

  • Burglary: A neighbor of a house near Live Oak High reported someone crawling into the house through a screen on the front porch. The report was taken at 7:15pm.

  • Grand theft: Pings Mongolian Restaurant reported money was stolen from the restaurant, possibly the bank deposit. The report was taken at 8am.

  • Burglary: A resident of Sunnybrook Court reported she heard a sound at her garage door, and she found the door open a little bit. The report was taken at 10:55pm.

February 2

  • Auto burglary: A resident of La Crosse Drive reported his Honda was broken into overnight. A window was shattered, and the stereo was stolen. The report was taken at 9:43am.

  • Burglary: A business on Monterey Road at Wright Avenue told police multiple vehicles in the area were broken into overnight, and someone apparently broke into the house behind the business, but nothing was stolen. The report was taken at 9:56am.

  • Auto burglary: A Morgan Hill resident reported a library book was stolen from their unlocked car while it was parked on Keystone Avenue on Oct. 27. The report was taken at 11:35am.

  • Vandalism: A resident of East Main Avenue reported someone vandalized their mailbox. The report was taken at 11:48am.

  • Grand theft: The Ford Store on Condit Road reported that employees of a previous vendor stole multiple tools and stereos from the dealership. There is a videotape of the theft. The report was taken at 2:20pm.

February 5

  • Burglary: Speedee Oil in Tennant Station shopping center reported someone broke into the business overnight. The glass in the garage door was shattered, the alarm system was disabled, and the cash register was opened. The report was taken at 8:57am.

  • Grand theft: A resident of Merlot reported two 3-feet tall Saga Palm plants in large terra cotta pots were stolen from their front yard overnight. The report was taken at 9:06am.

  • Vandalism: A resident of Del Monte Avenue reported someone broke a window of their Dodge sedan overnight. The report was taken at 9:15am.

  • Auto burglary: A guest at the Extended Stay America on Jarvis Drive reported her Honda Civic was broken into overnight. A window was shattered, and a briefcase was stolen from the Civic. The report was taken at 1:52pm.

February 6

  • Vandalism: Bright Beginning Day School on Calle Enrique reported the front window of the business was shattered overnight. People were seen playing football in front of the business the day before, so the damage may have been accidental. The report was taken at 5:47am.

  • Auto burglary: Alpha Automotive Repair on Monterey Road reported several vehicles were broken into over the weekend, and houses to the rear of the business had been broken into and entered. The same thing happened the previous weekend. The report was taken at 9:05am.

  • Auto burglary: A Morgan Hill resident reported her wallet was stolen from her unlocked vehicle while it was parked at the Taco Bell on Monterey Road. The report was taken at 9:44am.

  • Petty theft: A Morgan Hill resident reported she left her purse in the Togo’s restaurant in Vineyard Town Center the day before, and when she went back four hours later, the purse had been stolen. The report was taken at 11:03am.

  • Grand theft: A resident of the Madrone Mobile Estates reported $2,000 was taken from their bedroom on Feb. 1 or 2. The report was taken at 1:43pm.

  • Petty theft: A resident of Woodland Estates Mobile Homes reported garden tools were stolen from their shed within the last two weeks. The report was taken at 3:09pm.

  • Fraud: A resident of Llagas Road reported someone is using his ATM card to withdraw money from a bank. The report was taken at 3:34pm.

  • Burglary: A resident of the Crest Avenue Apartments reported a neighbor saw two juvenile males were seen leaving from a bathroom window of their apartment. Two bottles of tequila were stolen. The report was taken at 4:25pm.

  • Fraud: A resident of the Cochrane Village Apartments reported she paid her rent with money orders, and the money orders were stolen from the manager’s office and forged. The report was taken at 5:43pm.

Arrests

  • David E. Roberts, 38, was taken to county jail charged with spousal battery. The report was taken on Jan. 26 at 10pm.

  • Jennifer A. Duran, 26, posted bail after she was jailed on charges of identity theft. The report was taken on Jan. 17 at 1:36pm.

  • Paul M. Specmann, 50, was booked in county jail on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The report was taken at 8:59am.

  • A 17-year-old female was taken to Juvenile Hall on suspicion of auto theft. The report was taken at 12:22am.
