Morgan Hill – The Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce has booked three loud Christian rock bands to kick off its Friday Night Music Series tonight in downtown Morgan Hill.

The gospel of rock starts at 7pm when Gilroy-based Chasing Truth plugs in at the corner of Second Street and Monterey Road.

The band’s MySpace page includes heavy metal song samples.

“I’m getting my piercings ready,” joked Rosy’s at the Beach co-owner Rich Bergin, adding he’s not concerned about a loud metal band playing across the street from his restaurant. “It will depend on what kind of a crowd it draws.”

For the most part, the Friday Night Music Series has been a hit with residents and merchants.

The two-hour concerts are planned 7-9pm every Friday through Aug. 31.

This is the 15th year the chamber has organized the music series. Sponsors include the Morgan Hill Times, Trendz Kitchen and Bath, Anritsu, Johnson Lumber, Rosy’s at the Beach, Santa Teresa Dental and Alain Pinel Realtors.

While this is Chasing Truth’s first appearance at the series, several regulars will return this summer including Red Beans and Rice, the Dadz and the Fast Lane Band.
