Cajun food coming soon to Morgan Hill

“Hi Red Phone, I have seen the Crawfish House (on Monterey Road) sign up for a while now. It seems they have been working on it for a long time.Do you know when they’re going to open? It also seems that they have limited parking at the front of the restaurant. Are they going to have more parking anywhere on the property?”

Red Phone: Dear Craving Cajun, Red Phone contacted Leslie Little, assistant to the city manager, who said the restaurant received its final inspections last week.

“The owners tell our building staff that they expect to open in a couple of weeks,” Little said. “There are a few parking places in the rear of the restaurant that will be available as a condition of their permit once the eatery opens for business.”

Well, there you have it, good caller. Seems some Cajun cuisine will be coming to Morgan Hill by the end of the month. Hope they have Jambalaya on the menu.

Vegetation has been trimmed

“Red Phone, going east on East Main Avenue just before the El Toro Elementary School, there is a speed limit sign (about 200 feet from the school) 25 mph for the school area. But, about another 100 feet past that, just before the school there is a 40 mph speed limit sign. This sign needs to be removed, or trade places with the 25 mph sign! Where the 25 mph sign is, it also is slightly blocked by overgrown vegetation. I hope someone gets rid of that 40 mph sign and maybe save some child’s life.”

Red Phone: Dear Safe Driver, Red Phone contacted Mario Jimenez, a junior engineer with the city, who said the city’s Street Maintenance Division has trimmed the overgrown vegetation blocking the sign in question, making the area a bit safer.

As far as the sign is concerned, that’s a different matter.

“Public Works staff conducted a field review of the location and determined that the placement of the existing signage is appropriate based upon the current State of California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices,” Jimenez said. “However, to minimize any confusion about the speed limit on this section of East main Avenue, the existing 25 mph school zone signage will be relocated to the same post as the 40 mph to clearly indicate the speed limit along this stretch of East Main Avenue is 40 mph except when school is in session.”

There you have it, good caller.

Hopefully that’ll make the area safer both when parents are dropping off and picking up their children, and when school is not in session.
