Let’s make Morgan Hill proud this year and come out to support the athletes. Running is hard work, and doing it mile after mile can be tough. Thus racers need positive energy from spectators to push them toward the finish line.

Here’s the lowdown on the Morgan Hill Marathon + Half:

The races begin at 8 a.m. at Centennial Park, next to the Centennial Recreational Center. Greg and Debbie Richards, founders of SVE, are working around the clock to make this happen and have cool things in store for participants, volunteers and spectators.

Logistics for putting on a huge race can be complicated; for instance, streets have to be closed from 3:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on race day. Also, recent changes to the race route will reduce the number of times runners will cross Monterey Road. South Valley Endurance is working with the City of Morgan Hill to insure everyone is happy.

“We expect 2,200 runners this year and 8,000 in town watching, visiting and eating,” Greg Richards said. “Please come out and cheer the runners, or support them on the course.”

If you want to be part of the excitement of running or walking the marathon or 13.1-miler in Morgan Hill’s pristine countryside, don’t hesitate to register online today because the race in both distances will sell out again.
