MORGAN HILL

The Live Oak club roller hockey team captured a league championship with an undefeated run through the conference tournament held Friday and Saturday at the Silver Creek Sportsplex in San Jose.

The Acorns beat Pioneer 5-1 in the title game Saturday after a 9-1 semifinal victory over Branham earlier that day. Live Oak opened the tournament with an 11-5 trouncing of Gilroy.

SPIRIT SOFTBALL

Rickie Cruz had an RBI double Wednesday as the Leopards beat the Lions 11-9 Wednesday in a Major Division softball game at San Martin-Gwinn School.

CYCLING

The 34th annual Tierra Bella will run through Morgan Hill, Gilroy and other parts of South Santa Clara County on April 16.

Presented by Almaden Cycle Touring Club, the event features 100-meter, 60K, 100K and 200K races.
